According to a report by Macrumors on Thursday, Feb. 17, you will need three things before you install the magic software that will give your Mac a new look.
To continue, you need to have a Mac released in 2010 or later. It should also have at least 16 GB of storage. To add, your laptop should contain a Google Chrome browser. We require you to have at least a 16 GB USB drive for storage.
Now that you have the necessary items to turn your worn-out Mac into a Chromebook, let's now begin how you can install the Chrome OS Flex. This software will allow you to get the same feel as if you're using a Chromebook, not to mention that you can acquire a similar codebase and other features.

How to Install Chrome OS Flex

It's important to know that this software is still on its soft launch, so some bugs might affect your device. We expect that its stable version will arrive in the next few months of 2022.
Follow these steps to restore your dusty Mac into a cool-looking Chromebook.
First, you need to open your Chrome browser on your Mac device.
From the Chrome web store, choose "Chromebook Recovery Utility."
From there, tap "Add to Chrome" on the top right corner.
Then, tap "Add extension."
Now that you're on the browser window, go to the top right and click "Extensions" and press "Manage extensions."
After tapping it, switch on the button next to the "Chromebook Recovery Utility."
Before pressing "Continue," select Chrome OS Flex under "Identify your Chromebook."
Plugin your USB drive or external hard drive when prompted. Press "Continue" and choose it from the dropdown menu.
Tap "Create Now."
Plug out your drive when the media says that it's now ready.
Shut down your Mac that will run under the Chrome OS Flex.
Insert again your USB drive.
Restart your Mac and hold the Option key.
From the boot menu, tap the USB drive and press Enter.
Now that you have booted the Chrome OS Flex from your drive, you can now delete the current macOS and replace it with new and updated software.
Make sure that before installing it, you will test its stability and functionality first, so you have the option to remove it later if it does not work as planned.
