After Facebook changed its brand to Meta, people knew what was coming next to the company. Since metaverse is everywhere, it's high time for social media to embrace what needs attention.
"Horizon Worlds," the VR platform of the company which can be accessed through its Oculus Quest, has recently caught the attention of many people, especially those who attended the star-studded Super Bowl event.
Meta said that the population of its monthly users has grown to 300,000, a 10 times increase in the record.
VR Platform 'Horizon Worlds' Hits 300,000 Users
After Meta introduced its "metaverse" vision to the Super Bowl fans through an ad, Chris Cox, the chief product officer updated their employees regarding the monthly user base of the VR platform.
According to The Verge, the VR-based world recorded 300,000 users every month. Although it was only available for US and Canadian users back in December, the numbers proved that it's starting to gain attention from the public.
The information about this number was disclosed by a company employee who knew the situation.
It was later confirmed by Meta spokesman Joe Osborne who said that the user base came from "Horizon Venues" aside from the "Horizon Worlds. It did not include those who have used the "Horizon Workrooms," which features a VR-based collaboration platform.
Meta initially launched "Horizon Worlds" in its beta version as part of early testing for its tools. The concept shared a somewhat similar concept with "Minecraft" which allows people to interact with other users in the virtual space through their avatars.
This week, the rebranded firm said that it has constructed 10,000 "separate" worlds in the VR platform. As of press time, its dedicated group on Facebook for this platform has already reached more than 20,000 members to date.

What Drove the Increased User Base in 'Horizon Worlds'
In a similar report by The Verge, the quick increase in the number of users can be attributed to the usage of the Quest headset. Over the past year, many people grew interested in this mixed reality headset. By then, people wanted to try exploring the "Horizon Worlds."
Regarding the VR headsets, Meta has not yet revealed the total number of products that it has sold.
However, there were potential estimates that came out from third-party sources which indicated that the firm has already sold more than 10 million headsets.
Although we see that the metaverse trend is booming right now, the success of "Horizon Worlds" will depend on the investors.
Meta could keep up with it by releasing timely updates for the VR platform. It should also address concerns regarding user's content moderation.
In another report by Upload VR earlier this month, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that he's planning to release "Horizon" to mobile this 2022.
