Uber to Allow Users to See the Ratings the Drivers Gave Them

Uber has always allowed its customers to rate its drivers based on their performance and behavior.

Customers can give a five-star rating if they are satisfied, and they can also give a one-star rating if there is still room for improvement.

Now, Uber is giving its customers the chance to see how drivers perceive them by allowing them to view their ratings.

Uber Customers Can Now See Their Ratings

Low-performing Uber drivers with four stars or less are at risk of deactivation. Passengers who have poor behavior can also be banned from the platform if they get enough one-star ratings from the drivers.

Uber customers will be able to see a breakdown of their ratings in the app's new privacy menu, which will be available worldwide starting Feb. 16, according to The Verge.

To access the app's Privacy Center and your rating breakdown in the Uber app, go to the settings menu and tap "Privacy." Tap on "Privacy Center" and swipe right to click on the option to see the summary of how you use the service.

Scroll down to the data section and tap on the option to view your ratings so you can see the breakdown. You will see if you are well-liked by the drivers or if you have some adjustments you need to make to improve your rating, according to Engadget.

Tips on How to Improve Your Rating

If your rating is low, you can still make some changes. Uber has listed some tips and reminders on its sites for customers to check out.

First, drivers should not have to clean up after you. Make sure that you take your trash with you when you leave the car and do not leave any mess.

Also, make sure that you are buckled up. Passengers in the back seat who do not have their seatbelts on can put the driver at greater risk of injury in a car crash. Remember to wear your seatbelt for your and the driver's safety.

Next, you need to be in the location when the driver is there. Their time is as valuable as yours, so make sure they do not have to wait for you. A fast and smooth pickup is better, so you need to be ready when your driver arrives.

As outlined in Uber's Community Guidelines, riders and drivers should feel safe, positive, and respectful. Remember always to treat your driver and their car with respect.

And, of course, do not slam the door when you enter and leave the car. Drivers have cited that door slamming is one of the reasons why they give passengers a one-star rating.

Uber has been experimenting with different ways for drivers and riders to give feedback to each other for the past few years.

In 2017, the company launched a feature that allowed drivers to give comments to passengers regarding their behavior.

The drivers would choose from a list of reasons like patience, wait time, attitude, number of riders, wanting a new route, and others.

If the passenger gets the same reason twice within a month, they will get a notification when they open the app to let them know that their behavior affects their rating.

Uber is also publishing data on which cities have the highest and lowest average ratings in the United States. The city with the highest average rating in San Antonio, Texas, while the city with the lowest average rating is New York City.
