General Motors now faces several disappointing early reviews for the Hummer EV electric pickup truck, and the said comments about the car point out its range. The early reviews said that the vehicle is not as efficient as it is marketed as it can only bring 329 miles of range for the electric car, something that GM may improve for other releases.
GM Hummer EV: Not Efficient Says Early Reviews?
The EPA's test data and initial review brought out the first details regarding the General Motors' Hummer EV that will soon release in the market for people to enjoy. Now, the vehicle focuses on its massive features like the Ultium Drive motors, 1,000 hp output, and overall looks, but it is not appealing to early car reviews.
According to the Car and Driver, GM's Hummer EV is a heavy vehicle with a 9,063 lbs. curb weight for the car compared to other manufacturers and EVs. Electric cars are generally heavier than ICE cars because of their motors and batteries, but the Hummer EV is significantly beefy compared to Ford's F-150 Lightning vehicle at 6,500 lbs.
GM Hummer EV: When is it Releasing?
General Motors still has not given the public release date for its Hummer EV this year, despite promising that the vehicle is coming by 2022. The car even has a "2022" on its name, but it may be so that the model will be for this year, but deliveries will come by 2023.
The company is mainly affected by the ongoing chip shortage, to which GM pushed back on some deliveries and production of its cars.
Hummer EV's Promises
General Motors aims to debut the Ultium Drive motor on its electric vehicle platforms, including the Hummer EV, which focuses on an electric pickup truck for the modern age. It revived the old Hummer lineup that stopped with its H3 or third-generation release, and this is because of its lousy fuel economy and heavy body.
Now, it is repeating the curse and bringing another bad review for the Hummer EV despite opting for the more eco-friendly electric motor. Nevertheless, the new Hummer EV pickup aims to debut one of the highest output power for an electric car with 1,000 horsepower to drive a person for adventures and the road.
GM's Hummer EV is the first car to debut 1,000 horsepower on stock configurations for an electric vehicle.
However, early reviews of the GM Hummer EV now say that the vehicle may have overcompensated for other features and left behind several important ones. One of which is the car's curb weight, to which the Hummer EV gets branded as a heavy car that does not justify its mileage and functionality.
