Apple's Support App now brings repair cost estimates to see the different breakdowns and expectations for their device under fix from the service center. However, this will only work for repairs that users will bring to Apple Authorized Service Providers, as the company can only estimate costs for trusted or certified services.
Apple Support App brings Repair Cost Estimates Available for Users
Mac Rumors reported that the Apple Support app is now bringing people the chance to have an idea or a repair cost estimate on their devices, especially if it needs a fix. The feature gives users information on what to expect when their device needs a fix, which will help them anticipate how much to pay when the time comes.
The feature is available via the Apple Support app accessible via download in the App Store. The app is free and can give people a heads up on what to expect on their devices. Moreover, the feature would also provide other information and support needs of a person, available to navigate its settings.
Apple Repair Cost Estimates: What's the Catch?
Apple's repair cost estimates are accessible via My Devices > Repairs & Physical Damages. Here, users can click on the expected repair costs like the screen replacement or battery change for the device. Users can also choose the type of service they require for its cost estimate by typing in the specific requirement.
The catch is that it is only available to certain places, but not for all. That is because certain costs are different in each location, depending on it.
Apple Repair: Service Centers or Right to Repair?
Users do not need to bring their Apple devices to service providers to have them repaired or fixed as the Right to Repair law already got to the company to share manuals and parts. However, not all people are adept or have the proper tools to open their smartphones or devices to fix their complex internal components, especially as it is delicate.
The repair programs of the company bring different offers for users throughout the other releases it has available. Usually, for new devices, like when the iPhone 12 was released, Apple does not have enough parts for it and will focus on replacing the entire phone instead of replacing the said part.
People are also wary of bringing it to repair centers as their devices are sometimes accessed by unprofessional repair technicians who access private information or files.
Nevertheless, users that still bring or aim to bring it to repair centers will have an idea of how much to give out specific repairs and anticipate the cost for when claiming the device. The app also helps in giving Apple transparency in its repair costs.
