What a touchdown for the Tonight Show. Just a few minutes after the portal opened for Fallon fans to get free tickets to the special taping of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon at the Orpheum Theatre in Pheonix, tickets sold out.
While it originally looked like tickets were sold out in four minutes, an NBC spokesperson revealed that the tickets were actually gone in 2 1/2 minutes after the portable opened at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan.14.
About 42,000 people flooded the website ShowClix to win their tickets to the show that will be taped after Super Bowl XLIX on Sunday, Feb.1.
Those who were beat out by other fans received the message,"We're sorry, but all tickets for Phoenix, Arizona have been reserved."
It isn't known how many lucky fans got their tickets, but the Orpheum Theatre can hold about 1,300 people. Those who got their golden ticket will get to see actor and comedians Kevin Hart and Will Ferrell, both Fallon's guests for the show.
One woman, Lindsey Dempsey from Scottsdale, was able to score four tickets. The 32-year-old who will be taking her husband, her boss and her boss' husband, went to the site three minutes before and kept hitting refreshed.
"I waited anxiously and kept my eyes glued to my computer screen. Suddenly, the page refreshed and it said, 'Congratulations," she said. "I was ecstatic! I felt like I had won the golden ticket. I've never been quick enough to score tickets to a show like this, and it was an exhilarating experience."
People reportedly began to sell the much-desired tickets on Craiglist; however, all tickets are non-transferable. NBC can revoke any tickets if they think they were purchased and identification must be provided to be granted the winning tickets.
