Apple's Touch ID, a security feature for the company's iPhone models, might not come back as the company shifts its focus on enhancing its current Face ID.
Ever since the advanced Touch ID feature was released, the giant tech manufacturer started integrating it into its smartphones.
The first model to have this function was the iPhone 5 back in 2013. After that, iPhone 6 and other models followed.
However, the integration of Touch ID was halted by Apple after iPhone 13 was unveiled. Some consumers and critics criticized this move since the company recently announced an under-screen sensor, as reported by MacRumors.
Apple Touch ID Will No Longer Come Back?
According to 9ToMac's latest report, the release of iOS 15.4, which is expected to be rolled out in the coming weeks, means that the popular Touch ID will no longer be available.
The rumors about the removal of Touch ID started after the global COVID-19 pandemic started. Some consumers find this fingerprint recognition feature quite efficient since it works very simple and fast.
However, they are now considering using Face ID since it is safer to use compared to Touch ID. With Face ID, all you need to do is look at your iPhone's screen. After that, it will automatically open for you.
Face ID Now More Efficient
Apple's Face ID still has some issues. One of these is its inaccuracy when the user is wearing face masks.
Remember, residents across the globe might still need to deal with face coverings since the global pandemic can last for years until it is completely neutralized.
Because of this, Apple found a simple solution to fix the face mask issue, which is integrating the eye recognition feature into Face ID.
This new capability is expected to be available once iOS 15.4 is released. Thanks to this innovation, Apple consumers can soon unlock their iPhones even when they are wearing face masks in public.
In other news, security experts are now urging iPhone users to upgrade their device to iOS 15.3.1 to fix an alarming security flaw.
Meanwhile, iOS 15.4 Beta has a Siri bug that can store your voice recordings.
