"Wordle" has saved the life of an elderly woman in Chicago as it remained unknown to authorities and her neighbors that she was held hostage by a naked intruder. The intruder came in the middle of the night and kept the woman hostage, but throughout the course of the captivity, the criminal did not reveal his intention on why he broke into the home.
Wordle Saves the Life of Chicago Woman Under Hostage
It may not be a health tech app, but "Wordle" saved the life of a Chicago elderly woman, according to a report by CBS Chicago earlier. In the statement, the elderly woman said that an intruder came in the middle of the night, naked and bloody, after coming through the window and getting caught by its shards.
The man then asked the lady to clean him up and barricaded themselves in the bathroom for a long time. The naked intruder said that she would not hurt the lady or molest her if she did his bidding and followed what he had to say.
The lady's daughter, who noticed that she did not get a "Read" notification or a "Wordle" update text from her mother, gave her suspicions, to which she contacted the authorities. The mother and daughter would update each other on clues or the word of the day for "Wordle," also sharing scores.
Wordle: Daily Word Hunt is the Name of the Game
"Wordle's" principle is easy, and it is a single-word game that people play daily and updates every 24 hours for a new word for people to guess. Users go on a daily word hunt to determine the phrase, and it would rate them scores for how long it took them or how much of the guess they used for the day.
Should You Play Wordle to Save Your Life?
Do not mistake Wordle for any health tech application or an Apple Watch that reports to authorities whenever a person did not play for the day or several hours already. It does not work like that as the game is still a game and not something related to health or technology, only that it is an app that brings a form of entertainment for a user.
However, in the case of the Chicago woman, it became a lifesaver, and it is because there is a specific routine that she and her daughter do daily, and that is to update on Wordle scores and answers. The game's popularity earned it clones in the Apple App Store, and it only means that people pay much attention to the game.
The main principle or takeaway on this news is that people should be updating someone daily regarding their condition or experiences if they live remotely. If they fail to update, that may indicate that they are in trouble or are facing a difficult moment at home but were unable to call the authorities.
The Wordle exercise for the Chicago woman and her daughter is one good example.
