Tesla Model X deliveries are facing more delays after the EV maker previously halted its production for a couple of months, which Elon Musk now calls an "idiotic" move.
Tesla Model X Deliveries Face More Delays
As per a news story by Business Insider, the CEO and founder of Tesla, Musk, admitted that it was a mistake to pause the production of the Model X way back in 2020, noting that during that time it was still receiving high demand.
The Tesla boss said it in response to a Twitter user who blurted out the situation of the customers of the EV tech giant, wherein some of them have been waiting for the deliveries of their Model X for more than a year.
However, the tech firm reportedly did not give any updates regarding the deliveries of the electric SUV.
So, Musk responded to it humbly admitting the mistake that his EV tech firm has made in the past, saying that "we dropped the ball badly regarding the new Model X production ramp."
The CEO further added that Tesla has yet to recover from the production pause of the older Model X way back in Dec. 2020.
According to a report by Electrek, despite the backlog from the production of the older Model X, Tesla still decided to debut a new version of the electric SUV in Jan. 2021.
That said, the backlog of Tesla Model X orders continued to pile up with the production having a hard time keeping up with it. Thus, some customers who pre-ordered the SUV have been waiting for several months already for its deliveries.
Elon Musk: Tesla Model X 'Extremely Difficult to Build'
This time around, the Tesla boss himself disclosed that producing the Model X is not an easy task. Instead, Musk describes it as the "most complex passenger car ever."
Although the billionaire exec did not specify what actually makes it "extremely difficult" to build, he noted that the "limiting factor is interior trim."
