Sprint is making it easier for consumers to get their hands on popular smartphones through its lease program. The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and LG G3 have just been added to the program.
As more and more customers are upgrading their smartphones before their two-year contracts are up, carriers have been looking for ways to keep them from jumping ship to rival carriers. T-Mobile kicked things off with its Uncarrier initiative, which got rid of the all-too-familiar 2-year annual service contract and allows customers to pay for the device in full and in some cases no money down with only monthly payments towards the cost of the device.
Sprint followed with its own plan to attract smartphone users to its network by launching a leasing program that allows customers to pay a monthly fee to lease popular devices. Sprint currently offers desirable smartphones like Apple's iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus and Samsung's Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S5 Active through the program. The carrier has just added two more phablets to Sprint Lease.
"Sprint Lease gives customers an affordable option to acquire LG G3 or Galaxy Note 4," said Tom Roberts, senior vice president of Marketing, Sprint. "Through Sprint Lease, well-qualified customers can acquire the devices without paying any out-of-pocket costs at the point of sale. Sprint continues to offer customers the best value in wireless with its leasing program and monthly rate plans."
New and existing Sprint customers can lease the LG G3 for $15 per month and the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 for $25 per month (excluding taxes and fees) through Sprint Lease.
