A new "Pokemon" fan-made game is available on Reddit, and it focuses on an FPS game that will change how you view these peaceful creatures in the wild. "Pokemon" and humans are supposed to co-exist in the Japanese manga, but in this fan-made version, it is an all-out carnage that battles these empowered creatures with the use of guns.
'Pokemon' FPS: Redditor Creates a Fan-Made Shooter Game
The Redditor named r/Dragon_GameDev shared one of the first takes on the "Pokemon" series as a first-person shooter (FPS) game, featuring a dark take on the popular franchise. It shows a "Safari Game" where the gamer is given weapons and allowed to hunt these creatures and slay them using a manufactured weapon, the guns.
Dragon revealed his developer's log (devlog) and other resources via the comments section, showing the game's inspiration and its creation. The developer's YouTube channel offers a video explaining its origin, which he initially posted last Christmas, December 25.
Fast forward to almost a month later, Dragon shared his first version of the FPS shooter on Reddit.
The game features different weapons like bolt-action sniper rifles, automatic rifles, pistols, and shotguns available in-game. It also comes with an ammo count display.
It also shows hostile Pokemon with health meters that players need to deplete to defeat them and stop them from their attacks.
'Pokemon' FPS is a 'Childhood Destroyed' Sight to See
The video on Reddit garnered positive feedback from gamers and enthusiasts who saw the post, despite another episode of "Childhood Destroyed" for making the mature content. People used to care and train Pokemon in the different games offered by Nintendo.
The manga brought values and life lessons to the world when first introducing "Pokemon" decades ago, avoiding guns and violence in its releases.
'Pokemon' and its Popular Games Now
Nintendo, Game Freak, and The Pokemon Company are the known creators and developers of "Pokemon" titles on different platforms, known for their general to teenage-rated games. The rating means they are safe for children and young minds, focusing on battling Pokemon to grow their stats and only defeating them until they exhaust in battle.
The developers even made a pacifistic approach to the kid-friendly game with "Pokemon Snap," which only focuses on taking pictures of these mystical creatures to grow one's Pokedex.
The awaited "Pokemon Legends: Arceus" is coming soon, which focuses on a prologue to the modern world that people see on the manga version. Here, it would center on the character that helped to forge the first Pokedex, gathering data during the early years.
The FPS game by the Redditor is genuinely a lot to take, especially for those that grew up enjoying the "Pokemon" games and had a special bond with the creatures they caught. The game gave a new take on Pokemon, where people take up arms and battle their way without using other creatures to aid them.
