Most of these new strains are considered more infectious than the recent COVID-19 viruses. Since this is the case, people across the globe need to make efforts to avoid contracting the deadly disease.

Right now, face masks are among the most recommended PPEs that can prevent COVID-19 infection. N95 and KN05 models are the best ones right now, but they can be quite hard to find.

You can look in Amazon and other retailers for these masks. However, they can be quite expensive since they are highly demanded. Although this is the case, you can still rely on other cheaper methods.

Enhancing PPE in a Cheaper Way

According to Global News' latest report, people can rely on cloth masks as their protection against COVID-19 viruses. But, they still need to make some adjustments since experts suggest stacking at least two of the fabric face coverings.

Medical researchers also explained that people could buy their own filters for their cloth masks or use fabric filters instead of purchasing KN95 or N95.

"The issue here is if you have a single-layer, the ability to filtrate is absolutely minimal and doesn't make a difference whatsoever," said Ontario's Science Advisory Table's Head, Dr. Peter Juni.

Another thing you need to remember when using cloth masks is knowing if they're properly fit your face or your kids' faces. The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) provided some tips on how you can ensure face mask's fitting, such as the following:

  • If the face mask is too loose, people can just tie knots on the covering's strings.
  • If the face masks don't have a nose brace, people can use metal or plastic clips to ensure the covering's placement on their nose bridge.

U.S. Gov's Efforts Against COVID-19

The current U.S. administration is doing its best to prevent further COVID-19 infections. One of the things that the American government is currently doing is preparing free at-home COVID-19 test kits.

Reuters reported that U.S. residents could start ordering them (maximum of 4 test kits) starting on Jan. 19. They can do this by visiting COVIDTests.gov.

In other news, PS5 tracking accounts include COVID-19 test restocks in their Twitter listings. Meanwhile, the U.S. Supreme Court blocked the proposed COVID-19 vaccine mandate for workplaces.
