This NFT project has artworks by Hiro Ando which is slated for release early this month.
Steve Aoki is a known name around the music sphere as this Grammy-nominated music producer and DJ has given some outstanding music which has taken his popularity to soaring heights. He is the founder of record label, Dim Mak Records, which he established in 1996. Since its inception, his label has released over 250 records till date and counting. Aoki has been credited with working with distinct genres that range right from rapper Kid Cudi and Tiësto, and he has even reworked on songs by Michael Jackson and Linkin Park. His performances have always pulled in the crowds as his energy has been unbelievable, which has always set the stage on fire. Aoki released Wonderland in 2011, his first EP in 2012 titled It's the End of the World as We Know It, and most recently Neon Future and still continues to rule the music space in his own way.
Recently, he has forayed into an entirely unknown territory, which revolves around Cryptocurrencies and NFTs. It was a big decision for an artist whose life has always revolved around music. Changing tracks completely was something even he didn't expect but as this project was associated with art, he went ahead as he has always been an avid art follower. We spoke to the popular personality about him partnering up with this new venture and how has been the journey so far. Here are the excerpts:
Coming from a music background, getting yourself associated with the digital world came as a surprise to many. What made you take this big decision?
I have been noticing how the world's affairs have transitioned online since the onset of the global pandemic. Many industries steadily shifted base towards the digital realm. There has been a surge in demand for anything and everything that is associated with the digital space and that includes the art industry which I follow closely. I have always been in awe of Hiro Ando's work and even own one of his Samurai Cats, which I feel protects me from evil eyes. When I heard about the project being executed by Ando and his team at Crazynoodles, I was all excited and wanted to be a part of it. The team at Samurai Cats graciously took me on board as a partner as I never felt the need to be a part of anything before this, and they did notice my eagerness to join them. Today, I'm a part of the project which I'm confident will take over the NFT space big time.
How different is Samurai Cats from other projects floating around in the NFT sphere?
Samurai Cats holds all the original artworks of Hiro Ando in digital form. Each of its products is authentic to the core and this makes a worthy buy for users. Furthermore, there are various premium privileges associated with some NFTs along with memberships which are its USP. It has a total collection of 4,747 Samurai Cat NFTs on the Ethereum blockchain. Each Samurai Cat is assembled from over 300 layers hand-drawn by Ando and each cat is unique in its own way. It is a treat for art lovers who want to lay their hands on some of the most authentic pieces ever created by the great artist.
When will public minting open up for Samurai Cats?
The scheduled date for public launch is fixed on 5th of January and there's already much excitement amongst users before it opens up for minting. I'm sure this project will create history and make a huge impact once it sets its foot in the digital space.
