Gone are the days when mobile phones were simply used only to make calls and send text messages. These days, people can play games on their phones, stream music and videos, and even operate appliances in your homes.
With the wide range of apps available on smartphones these days, there is pretty much an app for everything. Believe or not, there are mobile apps available that can help you manage your anxiety.
While these apps are not a substitute for therapy or treatment should it be necessary, they can help make each day easier for you to bear.
What is Anxiety?
Before we get to listing down examples of mobile apps that can help you manage your anxiety, let us first define what anxiety is. WebMD defines anxiety as "your brain's way of reacting to stress and alerting you of potential danger ahead."
Examples of anxiety disorders include social anxiety disorder, panic disorder, separation anxiety, and even phobias.

Mobile Apps for Anxiety
With the way smartphones have been fully incorporated in everyone's daily lives, it is no surprise that mobile apps have been created to help people better manage their anxiety. Here are examples of these mobile apps:
Breathwrk: Breathing Exercises
Many people who go through anxiety attacks end up experiencing difficulty in breathing. One of the mobile apps that can help you manage your breathing is called Breathwrk: Breathing Exercises.
According to an article by Healthline, Breathwrk "takes the science of breathing exercises even further by curating a collection of breathing exercises based on your goal: falling asleep, feeling relaxed, feeling energized, or alleviating stress."
You can use the app to track your breathing habits and it can even send you daily reminders.
Breathwrk: Breathing Exercises can be downloaded by both iOS and Android devices.
Calm
Calm is probably one of the overall best mobile apps for anxiety available in app stores these days. Though you will have to pay to access some of the app's features, it actually has a variety of free ones you can use to help manage your anxiety.
According to an article by Verywell Mind, the free features of Calm include a sleep story called "Blue Gold" and timed meditation options. A premium subscription will give you access to a library of sleep stories and multiple hours of guided meditation that focuses on anxiety, stress, sleep, and many more.
Calm can be downloaded by both iOS and Android devices.
Colorfy
You probably have not picked up crayons and a coloring box since you were a child, but believe it or not, coloring is actually a good way to manage your anxiety.
The Verywell Mind cites a 2012 study that "examined the use of art therapy to reduce anxiety with a group of undergraduate students." The results of the study showed that the students exhibited a decrease in anxiety levels when doing art therapy.
A coloring app that both Verywell Mind and Healthline recommend is Colorfy. According to the Healthline article, the app features sketches and mandalas that users can color. Users also have the option to upload their own sketches to color.
Colorfy is available for both iOS and Android devices.
