Apple's macOS Monterey

As per 9to5Mac, Apple has already released the latest version of the macOS to its general users after four months of being in the beta testing phase.

It is worth noting that although there is new stuff to look forward to in the macOS Monterey, it is more of a refined version of the Big Sur as changes are only minimal.

Nevertheless, there are still some additional features worth highlighting or mentioning.

Top 3 Apple macOS Monterey Features

That said, here's a guide to list down some of the best macOS Monterey features that Apple is including in the Mac.

macOS Monterey: AirPlay

One of the additional facets of the latest update of the macOS is the AirPlay support, which allows its users to play content from their iPhone or iPad to the display of your Mac.

On top of that, AirPlay on macOS Monterey also enables its users to play their music from their Apple smartphone or tablet to the speakers of the Mac. With this feature, the Mac could work as a mere HomePod.

macOS Monterey: SharePlay

To avoid confusion, SharePlay, on the other hand, lets other Apple users listen to music and watch videos together via a FaceTime call.

Not to mention that its users could also sync the playback to everyone in the call. That means that if a user paused the movie, it would also halt across the devices of everyone else.

SharePlay also allows users to share their screens with other Apple users, which could be an app or a webpage from a browser.

macOS Monterey: New Safari

What's more, the macOS Monterey also provides its users a radical new look for its built-in browser, Safari, which has been controversial to some.

Due to the uproar from the beta users of the latest macOS, the Cupertino giant gradually pushed back the redesign of Safari by default.

However, updating to macOS Monterey still allows its users to try the new look that Apple boasted during the WWDC21.

Some of the redesign features of Safari included the unification of the search, toolbar, and tabs in a single row. Also, the start page of the browser sported an ultra-minimalistic approach.

macOS Monterey: How to Upgrade

According to Tom's Guide, the first thing that you should do is to check if your Mac still supports that latest version of macOS.

It should at least be an iMac in late-2015, a Mac Pro in late-2013, an iMac Pro in 2017, a MacBook in early 2016, a MacBook Pro in early 2015, a MacBook Air in early 2015, and a Mac mini in late 2014.

Upon checking, here's how to download macOS Monterey:

  • Go to System Preferences.
  • Select Software Update.
  • Then, click "Upgrade Now."

After which, wait until the software finishes downloading to install the macOS Monterey.
