Instagram announced one of its latest features called Collabs. It is a new feature that allows two users to share ownership of a single Reel or feed post.

On Oct. 20, Instagram is following this up by testing a new way to add a nonprofit fundraiser to a post on a platform.

On Oct. 21, the social media platform will roll out the ability to create photo and video posts on its desktop version, and it will launch new effects for Reels that are focused on music.

Instagram Collabs Feature

Collab allows two different accounts to share a feed post or a Reel. The post will show up alongside each user's followers, and it will also have the same comment section. The post will also share the number of likes and views.

Collabs can be activated through the tagging screen, and the second account that wants to share the post will have to accept the invite, according to The Verge.

Instagram is also planning to roll out the user's ability to post pictures and videos from the desktop version of the site after its beta version was tested earlier this year, according to CNET.

The feature may sound very basic, but Instagram's desktop version is notoriously known to lag. It is already behind when it comes to functionality compared to other social media sites. The desktop version activated its DMs capability last year.

Also, there are a couple of features that are scheduled to come out this week. On Oct. 20, Instagram will begin testing a new way for users to create fundraisers in posts.

The said feature can be accessed after tapping the plus sign button on the top right of the platform's interface. There are also a couple of new music-focused features that are scheduled to come to Reels on Oct. 22.

The feature called Superbeat can add effects to a video that is timed to the song's beat.

Another feature called Dynamic and 3D lyrics offer a better way to display song lyrics while a video is playing.

Features for Live Creators

Last week, Instagram launched a couple of new features to address the needs of the platform's Live creators.

Now, Instagram creators can build up buzz for Live by scheduling it in advance up to 90 days, then share the news on the platform to alert their followers, according to TechCrunch.

The platform will also release a new feature called Practice Mode. It allows creators to join another user before the event so they can test the network connection and can manage pre-show prep together.

Practice Mode is a feature that creators have been asking the social media company for a while now.

Giving creators the ability to schedule Live videos puts Instagram on an equal footing with YouTube and TikTok.

YouTube has offered tools to creators to allow them to schedule live streams in advance so they can start their promotional efforts.

In 2018, Instagram released Premiers, which allows creators to schedule the release of pre-recorded videos.
Premiers also give creators access to Super Chat, which provides creators with a chance to get tips from their fans.

Instagram also worked on an affiliate program earlier this year to help creators get monetized.
