Microsoft Edge Kids Mode
According to the story by News18, the internet as of the moment remains very highly unregulated and can reportedly pose a huge risk to children. As the current COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the need for online time and e-learning, it can reportedly be challenging for parents to be able to keep track of what their kids are doing online.
Quite similar, as primary PCs are usually shared among different family members. This can include content that might be way too sensitive for a younger audience. In order to tackle these particular problems, Microsoft has reportedly introduced the kid's mode to its proprietary Edge browser.
Enabling Bing SafeSearch
The company reportedly explains that the kids mode is designed for children that are as young as five years old up to 12 years old. Kids mode reportedly enables Bing SafeSearch, which limits access to 70 popular kids websites (the list is reportedly customizable). Learn the difference between Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome.
If a child tries to go into a website that is not registered on the list, they will then get a message asking kids for their parent's permission or for them to navigate somewhere else. The authentication of the parents is even required for users to exit kids' mode in order for younger audiences not to accidentally go somewhere that they should not.
