Tinder users from numerous countries worldwide complained that they couldn't use the dating app properly because of technical faults. Some users argued that the issue is holding them back from finding a match.

Tinder Technical Issue

Users trying to score a date this week said they couldn't send nor receive any messages on the dating app. Some even stated that they couldn't log in or form a connection.

Complaints flooded Tinder's customer service page right before 4:00 PM Eastern Standard Time, according to Downdetector, a website that monitors outages of apps, sites, and other services.

The countries affected are the UK, the US, New Zealand, Canada, and France, according to Fossbytes.

Tinder users expressed their frustration on Twitter, with some stating that they are already getting lonely because they can't use the app and don't know what to do with their spare time.

One user added that the app went down the second that he's making plans with someone he matched with.

As for the other dating apps such as Bumble, Hinge, and Grinder appear to be working, and they do not have any technical issues reported.

Swipe Night Stories

The technical issue came just when Tinder announced that it is bringing back its "Swipe Night" stories. In 2020, the dating app experimented with numerous ways to help people connect beyond just swiping right.

The dating app wanted to try something new since the COVID-19 pandemic made it impossible for people to meet in person, and that was when the "Swipe Night" series was born.

The first installment of the series garnered more than 20 million user engagement, and now the app wants to do a second installment, according to TechCrunch.

"Swipe Night" is an interactive story that lets you choose your own adventure. The series had helped the app recover from the decline it experienced last year as the user engagement metrics went down and the quarterly revenue dipped.

The pandemic had slowed down Tinder's revenue last year, but now it is slowly rebounding.

For the second installment of the series, Tinder hired director Karena Evans, directing music videos for Drake and HBO Max's "Gossip Girl" reboot.

The Tinder "Swipe Night" story lets users choose what they would do in the apocalypse. To indicate their decision, the user must swipe right or left. Based on their decisions, they will be matched with other participants, and their choices will show up on their profiles.

Although critics believe that this does not help users get a match, data shows a 26% in matches compared to the traditional way users navigate the app.

The series was even recognized at the Cannes Film Festival, as it received praise for its storytelling and creativity.

Tinder announced that the second installment of "Swipe Night" will be Gen Z focused. The series will utilize the app's "Fast Chat" and "Hot Take" features so users can talk before matching.

The "Fast Chat" feature will also allow users to analyze their decisions and strategies on what to do next as they solve mysteries throughout the story.
