Facebook's settings menu gets a more streamlined page on the mobile app. It comes after the social media giant rolled out a redesign with a more organized layout with lesser categories.
Facebook Settings Menu Redesign
Although Facebook is losing its downloads on mobile phones, the Menlo Park-based giant still has 2.5 billion monthly active users on top of the 1.5 billion who use the social media platform daily, as per Statistica.
The analytics firm that regularly tracks the user base of the top social networking site further added that the majority of Facebook users are exclusively accessing the social media platform via their mobile phones.
As such, the tech giant still extends its efforts to streamline its app to provide its users a better experience.
The new look of the settings menu page sports a more minimalist look compared to its former crowded visuals due to the numerous categories with a brief description below it.
Facebook Settings Menu: Organized into Lesser Categories
That said, the removal of descriptions provides a better view of the now lesser categories of its smartphone users, thanks to the intentional redesign of the settings menu.
The Verge further noted that Facebook also decided to rename the categories as they have axed some of them to welcome a cleaner layout on the mobile app.
The popular social media platform went on to explain the move as a way to "match people's mental models."
That said, the settings options are currently divided into six, namely Legal Policies and Community Standards, Your Information, Permissions, Audience and Visibility, Preferences, and Account.
Previously, the Account Settings alone included five categories, such as Personal Information, Translation for Posts, Ads Payment, Facebook Pay, and Linked Publications. The redesign combined all of those under the Account option.
The same thing occurred with the other counterparts.
Moreover, it is worth noting that the News Feed setting now resides inside the Preference category.
The new Settings menu rolled out to various mobile platforms, like Android and iOS, as well as the mobile web version and the Facebook Lite app.

Settings Search Function
If ever the redesign is still not enough to help its users to access categories easily, or if the change brought upon some confusion, Facebook has a solution. It improved the search function on the settings menu as well.
Users may now search for an option even if it is not the exact name, which is not the case before the update. Thus, folks unfamiliar with the jargon that Facebook uses may still stumble upon what they are looking for.
Elsewhere, Twitter is also reportedly undergoing a drastic redesign, which borrows the News Feed layout of Facebook.
