The iPhone SE 2022 is sporting the A15 chip and a 5G support, but it is reportedly still carrying the dated iPhone 8 design wherein bezels are unfashionably huge.
If the latest information turns out to be accurate, the iPhone SE 2022 will be the first budget iPhone to have 5G connectivity powers.
As per Appleinsider on July 19, analyst and leaker Ming-Chi Kuo disclosed that the Cupertino giant is working on releasing an entry-level iPhone in the first quarter of 2022.
Meanwhile, DigiTimes Asia echoed the earlier claims of Kuo, saying that some sources close to the industry said that the subsidiary of the chipmaker of Apple TSMC, XIntec, is including chip probing specialists to their team.
It is to note that the latter is known to supply components for the iPhone SE since it was first released.
iPhone SE 2022 and A15 Chip
Nikkei Asia reported that the budget smartphone of Apple in 2022 is likely to get the same chip that the iPhone 13 is reportedly getting this year.
The Apple A15 Bionic Chip reportedly started its mass production on May 26 to gear up for the upcoming release of the iPhone 13 in September.
The latest Apple chip is based on a 5nm manufacturing node called N5P, which already graced the mass production of TSMC. It is worth noting that the move of the Cupertino giant comes even as the tech industry is facing a chip shortage crisis.
The prediction of Nikkei regarding the chipset of the rumored iPhone SE 2022 differs from what DigiTimes Asia earlier claimed, with the latter suggesting that the budget 5G iPhone is getting an older A14 chip instead, which the 2020 line up of the company first flaunted.
iPhone SE 2022 and 5G Support
Aside from the A15 Bionic Chip, the iPhone SE is also touted to be the cheapest iPhone to support 5G ever, which is powered by an X60 modem chip by Qualcomm.
It comes as the iPhone 13 is already gearing up to expand its support for mmWave 5G, which was initially exclusive to the United States.
The information was hinted at as suppliers for the said tech are reportedly ramping up the production. However, the upcoming iPhone SE has yet to be announced if it is indeed supporting the mmWave 5G as well upon its release in 2022.

iPhone SE 2022 Design and Production
The next iteration of the budget iPhone is still expected to look like the dated iPhone 8, sporting a 4.7-inch LCD with large bezels. The Touch ID Home button is still expected to be available on this model.
As for the mass production timeline, it will be starting next month to fulfill the goal of producing 95 million units before it releases in the first quarter of 2022.
