"Warframe" cross-play and cross-save support, as well as a mobile version, are coming this year, the developer of the popular gaming title, Digital Extremes, announced.
Digital Extremes unveiled these developments for "Warframe" during the TennoCon 2021, which was live-streamed via Twitch, Kotaku reported.
As per IGN, the shooter game will also be introducing a New War expansion, which was teased via a 30-minute live gameplay demo during the same event, in which, fans were shocked as characters such as Corpus Engineer Veso, Dax warrior Teshin, and Grineer Soldier Kalh-175 became playable for the first time.
Notably, the popularity of "Warframe" significantly increased as gaming folks got stuck in the confines of their homes due to the ill effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. As such, the shooter game grew its number of active players alongside "Dota 2," "Player Unknown's Battlegrounds," "Monster," "Destiny 2," "Rainbow Six Siege," and "Grand Theft Auto V."

'Warframe:' Cross Play and Cross Save
The upcoming cross-play and cross-save support would enable "Warframe" players to, later on, play the space ninja characters of the game from varying gaming platforms, such as the Sony PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch, without any problems, ideally.
The latest move is something that most "Warframe" players have been clamoring for a couple of years already.
It is worth noting that the eight-year-old shooter, which debuted on PC on March 25, 2013, never had such features.
That said, Digital Extremes highlighted that they value the fans of "Warframe." Thus, the inclusion of an ability to play the game on multiple gaming platforms.
The Chief Operating Officer of Digital Extremes, Sheldon Carter, said that "opening up Cross Play and Cross Save is just one of many more efforts we'll take on to bring more players together including extending Warframe's fast, fluid, action combat experience to other global gaming platforms."
Carter further acknowledged that players of the game have been requesting such features.
The live stream event further teased the upcoming multiple device support to the fans of the game, showcasing how PlayStation, PC, Xbox, Switch, and even mobile users can seamlessly play in teams.
'Warframe' for Mobile Devices
Aside from the multiple device support and the new expansion map, the TennoLive event also hinted that "Warframe" is soon entering a new gaming platform that has seen a rise in popularity as well.
Digital Extremes further announced that the shooter game will be available for mobile devices in the future, adding that it is now in the works.
It is to note that the "Warframe" developer kept mum about any additional details regarding it. What is clear for now is that they are developing a mobile version of the popular shooter title.
Meanwhile, Digital Extremes has another free-to-play first-person shooter called "The Amazing Eternals," which seemingly intertwined both "Hearthstone" and "Overwatch."
