The Google Maps app has been a useful tool for those who want to track their location. It will also help the user to inform his/her colleagues about his/her exact location in real-time.

If you are far from your friends or if you are in a hurry for a meeting, the application will be your handy friend at all times.

Sharing your location on Google Maps is easy for all users regardless of platform. Either if you are a PC, a Mac, iOS, or an Android user, this guide will teach you how to effectively do it through different techniques that you can use for your device.

How to Share Google Maps Location Using Android

According to a report by Tom's Guide on Monday, July 12, there are ONLY three steps that you should follow if you are an Android user who wants to start sharing location in the Google Maps app.

  1. First, open the application and look for your location. Now, you can make a marker pin so you would have a landmark of your exact place. Additionally, you can start by clicking the name of your address at the bottom of the screen.

  2. After doing a series of steps, you can click "Share Place."

  3. Lastly, select the application where you want to share your location. After adding the recipient, there will be an email bearing a link. Inside it is your real-time location in Google Maps. You can open it everywhere by clicking send.

How to Share Google Maps Location Using iOS

The steps are similar to the previous platform. If you are an iOS user, you can begin sharing your Google Maps location by following these steps:

  1. Start by accessing the application. Like what we do in Android, you can press hold so you could make a marker pin of your location. Again, go to the bottom of the screen and click your current address.

  2. You can now tap "Share."

  3. Choose an application where you would send the link to your location. Alternatively, you can also click "Copy" so you could easily paste the link into any app.

How to Share Google Maps Location Using PC and Mac

For this part, there will be some differences that will be made. Since the first two methods involve sharing Google Maps location on mobile phones and tablets, this time we will discuss how to do it when you are using a Mac or PC.

  1. From the Google Maps app on your PC or Mac, type your current location. Next, search for the Menu button on the top-left corner. The clue for the button is the three horizontal lines that you can easily spot.

  2. After looking for the Menu button, you can now embed your map.

  3. The last thing that you need to do is to copy your location link to the clipboard. You can now access your shared location in any app through message or email.

Google Maps Real-Time Location Sharing Sparks Privacy Concerns

The sharing of the Google Maps location is useful for the users since those who are lost in a particular place could find their way back.

For travelers, this feature will help them know the location ahead of the trip. Indeed, real-time sharing might be handy for everyone, but it has some drawbacks as well.

Back in 2017, Forbes reported that there are privacy issues that Google Maps faced in the past. Google Maps knows where you are going and where you came from.
