Making Celebrations More Meaningful

To make gift-giving more "community conscious," the Generous and MyRegistry.com partnership has created an easy and convenient method. When engaged couples, expectant parents, or other celebrators set up their gift registry page on MyRegistry.com, they can now add nonprofit organizations and charitable groups - with more than 1.6 million groups available on the platform - together with the gifts that they're hoping to receive for their respective events.

When the gift-givers visit the setup My.Registry.com page to select and purchase their gifts, they are also allowed to donate to the nonprofits and charities registered by the celebrators.

Generous says in its company statement that the innovative partnership would equate to millions of dollars in donations from users of the platform to nonprofit organizations across the country and around the world.

"People today, especially young people, want their purchases to have a positive social, economic or environmental impact - it's the rise of the conscious consumer," explains Generous CEO Ross Buntrock. "Our new partnership with MyRegistry.com provides this opportunity to have a positive impact on the globe at the same time you are honoring your friend with a gift. And the nonprofit recipient not only receives the benefit of a financial donation, but also the opportunity - if the donor agrees - to add another name to their mailing list and thereby grow their roster of donors for future asks."

Citing the success Facebook had with its birthday fundraisers, which allow birthday celebrators to invite their friends to donate to a nonprofit of their choosing, Buntrock is optimistic that the Generosity and MyRegistry.com partnership will have a significant impact.

Together, Generous and MyRegistry.com also launched support for in-kind donation wish lists for nonprofit organizations. The gift registry platform currently hosts nonprofits that conduct holiday toy drives, back-to-school drives, and a lot of other initiatives.
