Twitter's possible new feature, "trusted friends" could allow users to limit who can view their tweets! The new feature would allow users to be able to send tweets and only allow just a selected few followers to see them.

Twitter New Feature 'Trusted Friends'

Twitter is now considering new features that could actually help users keep their own professional and private lives separate on the same account. This means Twitter will allow users to limit just who can see tweets.

The concept was dubbed as the "Trusted Friends" concept and it would allow users to send tweets to only a select group of friends or followers. According to the story by the New York Post, the feature is quite similar to Instagram's "Close Friends" feature for the platform's Stories.

Twitter 'Facets' and Instagram's 'Close Friends'

Just like Instagram's "Close Friends" users won't have to switch their accounts in order to tweet to a intended audience. Another concept for this new feature is "Facets" which would allow users to take on yet another different persona despite using the exact same account.

It was reported that others would be able to follow the whole account or maybe just the "facet" that they are actually interested in. The two early ideas were shared by the Twitter account of Twitter designer Andrew Courter.

Twitter New Feature

Courter wrote that they hear everyone when it comes to toggling their tweets from the public in order to protect their private lives by juggling through alt accounts. It could also be simpler to talk to whoever they want when they want to talk.

With the new "Trusted Friends" feature, users could tweet to a group of their choice. Perhaps people can even see the "Trusted Friends" tweets first. The designer also noted in another tweet that there is an approach they are making and that is embracing the obvious truth and that they are different people in different contexts.

Users Express Their Thoughts

It was said that Facets, an early idea, would allow Twitter users to be able to distinct personas within just one account. It was also stated that people can either follow the whole account or maybe just the Facets which they are really interested in.

It was noted that the general Twitter users seemed to respond positively. There were, however, some who voiced out their concerns and ideas. One Twitter user noted that although Facets is a pretty good idea, the user fears that it could actually be a hassle or even quite overly complicated at times.

Another user noted that both ideas seem good but if the user could pick just one, they would pick the "trusted friends concept." It was also noted that the idea could also be combined by allowing the users to actually limit the visibility of facets to their trusted friends.
