Most fans are excited about the newest flagship device, Samsung Galaxy S21 FE, which experienced technical hiccups, especially concerning the global chip shortage.
Samsung Galaxy S21 FE was supposed to launch in August, but Samsung had to postpone launching it for a few months because of the insufficient chip processors.
The tech giant confirmed that it would finally debut in the fourth quarter of 2021.
Samsung Galaxy S21 FE Chip Processors
In a SamMobile report, the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE was supposed to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor exclusively.
However, Samsung revealed that the phone would come in another variant that uses Exynos 2100 chip.
The Snapdragon 888 is the first installment of its series, and according to 91Mobile, it has a triple image signal processing feature. It can capture using three cameras simultaneously, and it has a processing speed that goes up to 2.7 gigapixels per second.
Its ISP also makes way for 128 fps burst shots and gives users the chance to capture up to three 4K HDR videos simultaneously.
On the other hand, NotebookCheck reported that the Exynos 2100 could support single camera shots that can go up to 200 MP and dual cameras of 32 MP each. It also offers UFS v3.1 storage and LPDDR5 memory.
With Exynos 2100, videos can go up to 30fps in VP9/AV1 or 8K60 in 10-bit HEVC. Its encoding is supported in VP9 and 8K30 HEVC. For the chip's AI calculations, it integrates a triple-core DSP and NPU.
Why Galaxy S21 FE will Have Snapdragon 888 and Exynos 2100 Variants
SamMobile confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE would have two variants: one with Snapdragon 888, and another with Exynos 2100.
The reason behind the two chipsets is the current global chip shortage.
It has recently come to light that the world is having a chip crisis, and it has led one of the world's biggest tech companies, Samsung, to compromise the chip for its next smartphone.
By producing a combination of Snapdragon and Exynos processors, Samsung would have the chance to offer Galaxy S21 FE to a broader market instead of just in the United States and Europe.
Effects of Global Chip Shortage on Samsung
Because of the global chip shortage, Samsung plans to launch its new smartphone in limited parts of the world.
Based on Sam Mobile's report, Samsung Galaxy S21 FE Snapdragon 888 variant will only launch in the United States, Europe, and other world areas. On the other hand, the remaining markets will receive the Exynos 2100 variant.
The list of countries that will receive the Exynos version is still unclear, but we expect to hear from Samsung at least before the smartphone's launch.
Despite the combination of two chip processors, it is still important to commend Samsung for its effort to release the much-awaited Samsung Galaxy S21 FE to more regions. At the very least, a good portion of the world will get their hands on the flagship device.
