Pebe Sebert, mother of the American singer-songwriter and rapper Ke$ha has dismissed rumors regarding her daughter being in rehab for alcohol. Sebert rather insisted that Ke$ha is having an eating disorder and was suffering from bulimia.
"That's a total lie. The place she's at is an eating disorder center. When they say 'people close to her' I will tell you I travel with her everywhere, her little brother, her assistant, makeup artist, talk to anyone," Sebert said in a statement to Celebuzz.
On Jan. 3, 26-year-old Ke$ha checked into a 30-day rehab treatment at Timberline Knolls, located outside of Chicago. "I'm a crusader for being yourself and loving yourself, but I've found it hard to practice. I'll be unavailable for the next 30 days, seeking treatment for my eating disorder," said Ke$ha in a statement.
Sebert also said the actual reason behind Ke$ha's eating disorder was the pressure of losing weight from her advisors and her producer Dr. Luke, who once compared her to a 'refrigerator'.
"Dr. Luke had been telling her how she had to get in shape and lose weight and all this stuff. She was exercising and dieting and ultimately doing everything she could, but not getting thin fast enough," said Sebert. "And that's when she first became bulimic."
"Dr. Luke told a friend of ours he thought she looked like a refrigerator on her latest video, and could she please try to control her weight," Sebert added. "After she went on a 14-day juice cleanse, he said, 'Thank God you finally got rid of the weight! We've all been talking about it!' So she felt like she couldn't trust anyone."
Dr. Luke, however, has denied Sebert's allegations and wished Ke$ha for a speedy recovery. "These statements and allegations concerning Dr. Luke are completely false," the statement via his representative read. "It is unfortunate that at a time Ke$ha is suffering immensely and trying to heal at a treatment center, her mother is taking this approach with the media. I give Ke$ha my utmost support and well wishes for a quick return to health."
