Walmart is currently working on new artificial intelligence that could help consumers whenever their preferred product is out of stock. The giant American multinational retail corporation claims that this new AI could offer smarter online grocery substitutes.
Its new technology is not quite surprising, especially since the ongoing global pandemic is still forcing many people to shop online. The current situation of various countries also leads to massive record downloads of shopping apps, especially last March 2020.
Walmart was able to surpass Amazon as the number 1 shopping application on both App Store and Google Play Store. However, other companies are also keeping up, such as Instacart.
Because of this, the giant retail store decided to expand and improve its shopping service using its new artificial intelligence.
Walmart AI's Capabilities
As of the moment, various companies are using AIs to improve their products and other services. These include the new Canon AI, which only allows smiling employees to enter its vicinities. Aside from this, there is also a new "GTA 5" AI, which can make its own version of the game.
According to Tech Crunch's latest report, Walmart's new AI will offer better and smarter online grocery substitutes. Srini Venkatesan, the Executive Vice President at Walmart Global Tech, explained that the retail company's new artificial intelligence is quite unique since it can predict consumer behavior, needs, and preferences.
"The tech we built uses deep learning AI to consider hundreds of variables - size, type, brand, price, aggregate shopper data, individual customer preference, current inventory, and more - in real-time to determine the best next available item," added Venkatesan.
Other Benefits Of AI
Artificial intelligence models are becoming quite useful nowadays. EurekAlert reported that some experts claimed that AI, together with nanotech, could solve global food security challenges.
If this is proven effective, it will help many people across the globe. The United Nations claimed that around 840 million individuals will be affected this coming 2030.
University of Birmingham researchers explained that their new AI could identify key properties that will control the behavior of nanomaterials in agricultural settings.
