However, the flight company said that instead of giving it to its passengers, it will provide these advanced Apple devices to its frontline employees, which is quite reasonable since they are the ones serving the consumers.

Maya Leibman, American Airlines' Chief Information Officer, confirmed that the giant company will replace the current mobile devices used by their frontline workers.
On the other hand, she also said that the free iPhone 12 and 7th-Gen iPad will also be provided to the airline's maintenance employees.

"We have decided to consolidate our frontline mobile devices onto Apple iPhones and iPads," said Leibman.

"Not only will this next-generation technology improve our customer and team member experience, but it will also allow our IT developers to create new apps on a single operating platform, Apple's iOS," added American Airlines' Chief Information Officer.

On the other hand, the giant travel agency already confirmed that its AMTs in Line Maintenance began receiving the free 7th-Gen iPads to support the majority of their work. Meanwhile, the airline's pilots will also continue to use iPads as their electronic flight bags which we'll continue to enhance over time.

Delta Also Did the Same Thing

American Airlines is not the only one that uses this approach. Delta News Hub reported on April 28 that Delta Air Lines also did the same thing.

The travel agency partnered with Apple and AT&T to upgrade the existing flight attendant SkyPro devices into iPhone 12. Delta Air Lines said that this innovation will help it transform the everyday job of its flight attendants.

It added that this could happen both on and off the aircraft.
