Red Devil AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT restock spotted on Amazon. Would gamers dare to buy the GPU at a whopping $2,004.29? Due to the global chip shortage and the massive increase of cryptominers, buying the GPU has been extremely difficult. However, at the price it is being sold now, the question is, is it worth the price?

Global Chip Shortage Affecting GPUs

The global chip shortage took everyone by surprise as the availability of a lot of different electronics started to deplete around different retailers. Two of the most affected products in the market are consoles and GPUs. Due to the global chip shortage, scalpers have seen an opportunity and have been buying these electronics.

Scalpers would then sell these electronics at higher prices thus making it harder for buyers to buy the much in-demand electronics. In order for buyers to have a chance at buying popular consoles like the PS5 restock or the Xbox Series X restock or other GPUs, they must not only compete with each other but with scalpers as well.

One way for buyers to increase their chances of purchasing electronics like AMD or NVIDIA GPUs is to follow restock tracker accounts on Twitter. Although some accounts have been extremely useful for some users, other accounts have not been too useful since the notifications they give still command higher prices.

One example of this is @stock_drops which just posted a Tweet notifying of new Red Devil AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT restock online. While it might be good news for some as the famed NVIDIA-competitor popular GPU restock was available, the bad news however was the price it was selling for.

Red Devil AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT SRP

The Twitter account shared a link to Amazon of the GPU being sold at way above its SRP. The stock drop saw the AMD GPU being sold at a whopping $2,004.29 while the SRP of the GPU is priced at $999 according to Tech Radar.

Good news, however, could be around the corner due to the crypto mining crackdown in China sending GPU prices down by around 45% according to the story by Tom's Hardware. The price drop, however, is now still limited to China with western buyers still having to buy the GPU from different scalpers selling at marked up prices.

Laptop VS Desktop

The Red Devil AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT is not the only GPU affected as other GPUs from both NVIDIA and AMD are also very scarce in supply. As of the moment, buyers in dire need of a GPU would need to buy them at marked up prices. The good thing is that CPU prices don't seem to have been affected.

However, for those that do not have a unit yet, for the first time ever, buying a laptop could be cheaper. Due to laptops having GPUs included, for those that want to get good graphics, this could be an alternative.
