Google is looking to boost sales of its Moto X handset by bundling a free Chromecast with the handset. Does this mean the company is having problems selling Moto X? Perhaps. The company had recently lowered the price of Moto X to $399 but the recent announcement of giving a free Chromecast away could mean Moto X, even at the lower price, isnt faring too well.
It may also be the other way around. Perhaps it's the Google Chromecast that is not doing well in terms of sales. It is possible Google wants to move Chromecast off the shelves and what better way to do this than by bundling it with Motorola's flagship device?
To get your hands on a Google Chromecast when purchasing the $399 Moto X, remember to type in the word STREAM, in the promotion box at the checkout page. Fail to do so and you will surely miss out on what can be classified as a great deal.
Chromecast is an HDTV accessory that plugs into your USB port. The product allows smartphone owners to push content from their smartphones straight to their HDTVs. The best thing about the device, however, it its price. It will cost a potential owner $35 to own, which is a great price for what Chromecast is capable of doing. We doubt Google is making a huge profit from the device, if any at all. The plan behind selling Chromecast for a mere $35 could be to get more people using Google services, which could increase the company's ad revenue.
Moto X is the first smartphone from Motorola that allows the customer to customize the body of the device before purchase. It's not a hardware powerhouse so it won't compete directly with the Galaxy S4 or iPhone 5s, but it should fare well against the medium range handsets.
