Walmart and Target introduce their own sale days as an answer to Amazon's Prime Day. On June 3, Target announced the dates of its sale day, which will run from June 20 to June 22. The company called it the biggest digital sale of the summer.
Walmart and Target's Sale Days
Named as Target Deal Days, the event will span three days and it will feature thousands of discounts on home essentials, electronics, toys, beauty items, and food and beverage.
Target unveiled that it plans to compete with Amazon's yearly shopping event called Prime Day, scheduled for June 21 to June 22 this year.
Target pointed out in its announcement that its sale is made for everyone and that no membership is needed, which is likely a reference to Amazon's Prime Day being aimed at those who sign up for Amazon's $119 annual subscription.

Meanwhile, Walmart announced that it would do the same thing. On June 2, Walmart stated that its very own sales event, called Deals for Days, will take place from June 20 to June 23.
Walmart branded the event as "Black Friday-like savings" and that it will include sales across the fashion, electronics, beauty, toys, and home categories, according to CNET.
Walmart's Deals for Days will include online-only and in-store only deals. The retailer already announced some of the sales, and they include Chromebooks, iHome Nova mopping robots, smartwatches for children, and Hisense LED TVs.
Amazon Prime Day
Amazon Prime Day is known as the biggest online sales event in the retail sector, aside from Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Now, all three major retailers are fighting for their spot this month.
Amazon Prime Day is usually scheduled mid-July every year, but in 2020 the retail giant had to postpone the event due to the pandemic, according to Engadget.
Just like the previous years, the public can expect to find discounts on 4K TVs, video games, wireless earbuds, and more. Amazon says that this year's Prime Day will feature millions of deals from famous brands and more than a million deals from small businesses.
The company stated that it is investing more than $100 million to help small businesses during Prime Day, and Prime members will get a $10 credit to use during Prime Day if they spend $10 at select small businesses from June 7 to June 20.
Throughout the event, Amazon will also spotlight deals on Amazon Live, a streaming platform on which creators and brands highlight different products sold on the site, according to The Verge.
Since it was first introduced in 2015, Amazon has leveraged the global shopping event to retain Prime subscribers, which is now more than 200 million.
The shopping event has been a massive revenue boon for Amazon despite the pandemic. It managed to bring in more than $100 billion in sales in the first three months of 2021.
Third-party sellers alone earned more than $3 billion over the two-day event in 2020. However, Amazon has not disclosed the total sales figures.
Amazon also noted that it would postpone the Prime Day event in Canada and India because of safety concerns stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic.
