The use of masks all over the country have only "little to no" association to the surge of coronavirus spread that happened in 2020, according to the recent MedRxiv study.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) together with the Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation has found out the results of the study which said that the virus' growth rate did not show any significant link across the mandate and non-mandate states.
Last month, CDC implemented that people who have already received the second dose of the vaccine are now free to travel without the use of a mask.
COVID-19 Transmission is Not Supported by the Public Mask Use
According to the recent study entitled "Mask mandate and use efficacy in state-level COVID-19 containment," the mask mandates in various states displayed that there was no association involved in the coronavirus growth acceleration.
"Our findings do not support the hypothesis that SARS-CoV-2 transmission rates decrease with greater public mask use," they continued," the researchers said. The team added that the transmission waves are "independent of reported mask use which means that they are not related to the escalating virus spread.
Moreover, there was a time that came when people knew that mask mandates could dictate the mitigation measures of the virus during the first months of the outbreak.
For a year, people have followed the rules to wear a mask especially when they go outside. At the time, they were aware that they could catch and transfer the virus easily in the absence of facial protection.
The state governments in the country also implemented strict social distancing besides mandatory public mask-wearing. The approach was seen to be an effective protocol to minimize the spread of the deadly virus.
Dr. Anthony Fauci, who has been involved in the controversial Wuhan COVID origins, issued that the pandemic posed a "heightened concern" to the public health workers in the United States. However, the sensational health news has made people worried since the policies sparked a hint of bias.
Masks Are Not 'Viable' Tools for an Individual's Protection
According to Western Journal on Friday, June 4, wearing the common face masks would not guarantee the wearer to be protected at all times, as the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director sent via email.
Fauci addressed a letter to former Secretary of Health and Human Services, Sylvia Burwell which says that the face coverings are intended to be worn by infected people so they could avoid spreading the virus to other people rather than the uninfected people who want to protect themselves from the transmission.
While the standard mask in the store could provide "just enough" protection, there is a loophole in using it. If someone has sneezed or coughed on you, the droplets could still penetrate your mask.
To date, CDC has already allowed people to ditch mask-wearing given that they are already fully vaccinated. For those who have not yet completed their vaccination, continue to follow the proper safety protocols such as social distancing when going outside.
