"No Man's Sky" is getting another massive update, and this time the update is focused on how the video game looks.
The update is named Prisms. Hello Games, the developer of the game describes the update as a visual overhaul. The update is available starting June 2.
No Man's Sky Update
When "No Man's Sky" launched back in 2016, the game was met with a mixed response from both the fans and the critics. For some, Hello Games title did not live up to the expectations set by the game's marketing, according to The Verge.
In the years following the game's rocky release, Hello Games continued to update "No Man's Sky," making it into a far more impressive game. And now, another major update has rolled out, and the trailer has been posted on Hello Game's YouTube channel.
"No Man's Sky" Prism update is a free update that overhauls the game's overall visuals. The game looks great. At this point, Hello Games has more than surpassed the original promise that was made back in the 2013 announcement trailer.
"No Man's Sky" has come so far in the past five years that it now looks like a whole different game.
Hello Games stated in a new release that virtually every aspect of the game had had a visual overhaul. From the planets, skies, creatures, stars, to the weather, space stationers, and more, new technology and new art make them look the best they have ever been.
The new weather effects include dimensional rain, with refracts the light, making the surface that it touches all slick and wet.
Also, the caves can be explored underground, with dynamic lighting that dramatically impacts how the biomes look, according to Polygon.
An update in February added pets, and it gave the players the ability to tame, train, and breed the alien creatures. It is a popular feature, but flying pets were never included in that.
As of the Prisms update, the players can now tame and ride the flying creatures, like flying worms, giant beetles, and colossal butterflies. Also, all companions will see visual improvements like textured fur.
Hello Games also added that the night sky will now shine above the players, with the light from thousands of distant stars. New audio and visual effects can also transform the player's interstellar experience as you warp between destinations.
In the Space Station, the players will notice volumetric lights in the interiors and the detailed surfaces from Parallax Occlusion Mapping and beautiful reflective metallic surfaces.
The Photo Mode has also been enhanced as part of the Prisms update, with an updated depth of field and bloom controls. "No Man's Sky" Prisms is the third update that Hello Games launched this year, according to AOTF.
This is following the Companions and Expeditions updates. Hello Games stated that there will be more updates this year.
