Tesla Powerpacks are not only used to supply more renewable sources of energy to a region but also they could be used as a backup for a public building like the hospital to have reliable energy power.

Recently, the AC-connected energy storage has been sent to a small island in Haiti where a hospital is located. The place is critically seeking a sustainable solution for its electricity.

Tesla proves to be a key to the problem in the country that's why the company decided to deploy the power storage for the energy maintenance of the far-flung establishments or from those where the energy grid seems impossible to install.

According to Electrek's report on Monday, May 31, a small island in Haiti which houses the LaGonâve Wesleyan Hospital on Gonâve Island has received the Tesla Powerpacks. In line with the concern regarding the need for the source of power, the nonprofit organization, World Hope International has written a letter to the EV manufacturer.

The group has been dedicated to its Christian ways of helping the poor people that's why it sought help from an organization that could help the island.

In the letter, World Hope International said that 100,000 island residents are deprived of the standard access when it comes to medical resources that some hospitals supply. For them to reach the nearest hospital with that access, the person would need to travel for 12 miles across the sea through a boat.

The hardship does not end there as the people still need to traverse the road for an additional two hours via taxi or bus. It's still up to the accessible hospital if it will accept the patient or not.

Moreover, the letter pointed out that the LaGonâve Wesleyan Hospital is open to everyone on the island, but since it only relies upon the current power, it could not serve all the people who need assistance.

In 2010, a donor granted the hospital a solar power system that it would use to accomplish the in-house activities. It came after an earthquake shocked the island in the same year.

However, since it's already been a long time ago after the hospital received an energy source, its old system was now depleted since it has lead-acid batteries. When the power storage was surveyed, it was concluded that the Tesla Powerwalls would be a good replacement for its batteries.

What Tesla Found Out in the Recent Evaluation?

The latest assessment of the company spotted several repairs that should be implemented soon despite some basic controllers coming out to be working. However, the batteries were not any more efficient like before, and they were now running at less than half of their usual capacity.

To address the issue, there should be an upgrade to the solar panels by deploying another batch of them. This would create solar storage for the Haiti hospital through the Tesla Wall units.

Since it is one of the newest energy storages, it only requires less maintenance compared to the traditional ones. They would also be able to withstand the heat in the Caribbean region.

Presently, Tesla is still installing storage so that the hospital has a more reliable source of energy for its activities. The energy storage business of the electric vehicle maker has been accelerating by up to 71% year-over-year.

Engadget reported that the company has already over 200,000 Powerwall this year.
