BlizzCon 2021 has officially been cancelled. Blizzard's May 27 post aims to notify all their fans that they will not be holding the BlizzCon 2021. They have suggested that the particular California guidelines that go around in-person gatherings keep on evolving and that the status of the pandemic "fluctuates around the globe."
BlizzCon 2021 Date Cancelled
Blizzard announced that they will no longer be holding the BlizzCon 2021. For this reason, fans should not buy tickets if they have not already bought them. According to Blizzard, a true in-person BlizzCon usually takes a couple of months of preparation for Blizzard, participants, 3rd-party partners, and the attendees.
It was noted that with the ongoing complexities as well as the total uncertainties going around the pandemic that is still in play, the BlizzCon Executive Producer Saralyn Smyth wrote that the company's ability to be able to properly move forward on a number of these fronts have definitely been impacted. The impact, as noted, has been so big that Blizzard has decided to cut out BlizzCon entirely this year.
Blizzard Popular Events
According to SlashGear, instead of the total cancellation of the very idea of having a future BlizzCon entirely, Smith now suggested that waiting for yet another year, for another November, would generally be too long for people to wait. As such, the company now plans another global event to take place sometime early next year.
The upcoming event is expected to be some sort of online show just like the recent BlizzConline combined with other smaller in-person gatherings. Blizzard will most likely ramp up its efforts in connecting with gamers all around the world in even more events compared to just one BlizzCon held per year. This is something that fans can expect moving forward.

Blizzard Events 2022
Just like other companies that are trying to take advantage of the impossibility of certain in-person events, Blizzard will now most likely continue to create far more smart, curated, all-access events where the company will be able to show their latest creations. This is something that BlizzCon is very popular for. Aside from the cosplays, this is where the company usually rolls out their official announcements.
According to The Verge, Blizzard is now looking forward to the global events that the company is expected to roll out next year, which include an online show. The online show is expected to take place in February, and although not a lot of details have been revealed yet, the company will be rolling them out soon.
With BlizzCon 2021 cancelled, the company is now looking towards online events as their next big thing. The reality is that most physical events have been cancelled this year, and everyone is trying to move to the online space where protocols can be followed. Fans will have to see if the same situation will be around next year.
