PS5 owners are among the luckiest people on the planet right now. And if you own one after getting it for close to MSRP, then you're among the even luckier few.
But if you've been trying to nab great PS5 games at great prices, there are some Australian retailers selling some for cheap.
TechRadar reported that out of the retailers having a PS5 game sale, Amazon offered the best deals of all of them.
Among the few games being sold at great prices are some of the biggest for Sony's next-gen console, too: "Spider Man: Miles Morales", "Demon's Souls", the "Nioh Collection", and "Sackboy: A Big Adventure."
All the games are currently selling for around AUD $30-36 (USD $23-28) less than their suggested retail price, which is often set at AUD $109 (USD $84) and above. That's an insane deal considering that you can only get these games for the so-called "next-gen price" of USD $70.
You don't even have to wait until Amazon Prime Day comes.
Here are the exact prices for all of the aforementioned games at the time of this writing:
"Demon's Souls" - AUD $88
"Spider-Man: Miles Morales" - AUD $64
"Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate" - AUD $88
"Sackboy: A Big Adventure" - AUD $75
"The Nioh Collection" - AUD $88
So go ahead to Amazon Australia and get a hold of these PS5 games while their deals last, otherwise you'll need to pay the USD $10 premium that comes with these titles being available for next-gen. But why is that, exactly?
PS5 And Xbox Series X Games At USD $70? Why?
With the release of the PS5 and the Xbox Series X, the ninth generation of gaming was officially underway. It brought with it a massive number of gameplay and graphical improvements, but also an expectation that the customers should pay more for that next-gen goodness.
Even as far back as last year, there has been news going around that USD $60 games are all but done.
According to a report by Insider, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ruan himself announced the price hike, whose first game on the "affected" list was "NBA 2K21" on the PlayStation 5.
Sony didn't give an exact reason as to why games would cost ten bucks more.
A lot of industry experts agree that it's due to the rising costs of game development as a whole. With big-budget AAA titles featuring even more complex gameplay and insane graphical fidelity, it's understandable that the price hike is their way to try and recoup their investments quicker.
Fans were understandably not happy about the news. Some of them are even claiming that they're going to skip the PlayStation 5 entirely. Maybe they're going to have it a bit better on the Green Team, then? It's possible, because Xbox boss Phil Spencer was quoted by VideoGamesChronicle as saying, "the customers will decide what's the right price for them."
A Great Deal's a Great Deal
Either way, everyone could always use a good deal on games, especially these days when people are is still somehow stuck at home. There's no word as to how long the sale will take, so if you've been waiting to get excellent PS5 game deals, now's your chance.
