Professional wrestling may be one of the most popular and exciting forms of entertainment in the world, but fans rarely get to say a proper goodbye to many of their favorite Superstars. One loss that still hurts the hearts of wrestling fans everywhere is the untimely death of Randy 'Macho Man' Savage. Even outside the world of pro wrestling, Savage was a legend, and a true icon during the late '80s and early '90s.
Despite his impact on the industry, Savage has yet to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, likely due to strained relations between Savage and owner Vince MacMahon. However, MacMahon recently spoke of Savage's induction during an appearance on Stone Cold Steve Austin's podcast, though he wasn't sure about when it would happen.
Now, after all these years, it seems that Macho Man's induction is all but certain. If you're unfamiliar with Savage, or just need a little Madness in your day, check out one of his legendary promos:
According to WWE.com, the first 2015 WWE Hall of Fame Inductee will be announced tonight on Monday Night Raw. The inductee is 'rumored' to be none other than Randy Savage himself, and the legend will be posthumously honored the night before WrestleMania XXXI.
Granted, the post says that the induction announcement has yet to be confirmed, but such are the theatrics of the WWE. It may be 'unconfirmed,' but the company wouldn't bother to post such an article if it wasn't going to happen.
During his time in the ring, Savage was a WWE Intercontinental Champion, WWE King of the Ring, two-time WWF Champion and four-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion, among others. After parting ways with WWE (known as WWF at the time), Savage performed with WCW and finally TNA before retiring due to health concerns.
To quote the Macho Man himself: "Best there is... past, present and future! OH YEAH!"
Monday Night Raw, and Randy Savage's Hall of Fame induction announcement, will air tonight at 8pm EST on USA.
