Wrestlers are known for taking some incredible punishment for the purpose of entertainment. It's a part of the business: pro wrestling is simulated fighting, and every once in a while, someone is going to take a spill. Pro wrestling companies do what they can to make sure the superstars are safe, but considering what these guys do to themselves, injuries are inevitable.
If there's one man who knows this better than anyone else, it's Jeff Hardy. The high-flying former WWE Champion is known for taking insane risks in the ring (or above it), and the name 'Hardy' has become synonymous with some of the most impressive stunts in the business. Unfortunately, there are some drawbacks to such a reputation...
This past Friday, during one of Hardy's routine TNA appearances, a fall went about as wrong as it possibly could have. Instead of falling from the top of a steel cage door to the padded rubber mats on the floor (which is still a massive drop), Hardy instead hit the top of the steel steps:
It's an absolutely brutal fall...even the sound of the impact alone is enough to make someone cringe.
Hardy was knocked out on impact, and while he did regain consciousness a few moments later, he was obviously in a lot of pain. TNA doctors confirmed that Hardy was not in critical condition immediately following the fall, and claim that he will continue to be tested for any serious head trauma.
As sickening an impact as it was, it's hardly the first fall of its kind: Hardy has endured drops from extreme heights before. After all, it's what his career was built on:
No one ever said professional wrestling was the healthiest career in the world...
