The video game "Mass Effect: Legendary Edition" comes with a number of improvements to the series, allowing fans to play through Shepard's story with updated visuals, and a smoother gameplay experience.

Among the game's numerous tweaks comes one notable fix to a major Xbox bug in "Mass Effect 1."

The "Mass Effect" trilogy was first released in 2007 with "ME1." "Mass Effect 3," the final game of the series, came out five years later in 2012.

A sequel titled "Mass Effect: Andromeda" was released in 2017, but it got mixed reception because of its high number of visual bugs and the game's disconnect from the previous titles in the game franchise, as noted by Screen Rant.

"Legendary Edition" packages together the trilogy's original three games with almost all of its DLC, adding up to almost 175 hours of content across all of the series, although "Mass Effect 3's" multiplayer mode has since been removed.

Players will instead have to import Shepard from previous games, or complete a substantial amount of side content to get the best ending of the game, according to Eurogamer.

"Mass Effect 1" is the first and oldest game in the series, and it does show it in some areas. The visual quality of character models, something that "Legendary Edition" improves significantly, is not up to the standard of the latter two games in the trilogy.

The Mako is infamous for having poor controls, and several aspects of combat were updated or removed later on in the franchise. But "Mass Effect 1" also comes with some noticeable technical bugs.

One such example of a bug is the black box issue on the planets of Noveria and Ilos.

Players using modern AMD CPUs would see black pixels in place of the character models in these sections of the game. While there are workarounds that are available, several fans found that the bug hindered their "Mass Effect" experience.

"Legendary Edition" has fixed this bug, together with other outdated features from "Mass Effect 1."

The Mako has received new controls with improved handling, though players will still have the option to return to the original Mako configuration.

Character customization has been updated to include several new skin tones and hair styles.

However, the Noveria and Ilos graphical problem is one of the more notorious problems to receive a fix with the release of "Legendary Edition." Numerous other bug fixes also come bundled with "Mass Effect Legendary Edition," such as rebalanced audio and enhanced textures.

Other aspects of the first game were brought up to par with later releases, like female Shepard's default mode, a unified character creator, and the level scaling of the game, according to Game Spot.

What is 'Mass Effect Legendary Edition' About?

The game is set in the Milky Way galaxy within an alternate universe during the 22nd century. The trilogy consists of action role-playing games in which the player assumes the role of Commander Shepard, an elite human solider who must unite the galactic community against an advanced race of starships called Reapers.

Shepard is a customizable character whose morality is determined by the player, and during each game, the player makes choices that can affect the story in different ways.
