Billy Dee Williams Is Back As Lando On 'Star Wars Rebels'

Lando Calrissian fans, celebrate. This week, the iconic Star Wars character makes an appearance on the animated television series Star Wars Rebels.

But wait, there's more! Not only will Lando appear in episode 1.11 of the series, but he'll be voiced by none other than Billy Dee Williams, who portrayed the character in the Star Wars films.

The episode airs this week on January 19 and revolves around Zeb losing a droid to Lando after gambling with him (that's what usually happens when one gambles with Lando).

Tweeter Tim Veekhoven from Star Wars Insider recently posted a few screenshots from the episode, showing Lando in all his devilishly smooth glory.

Another Star Wars fan, Blue Leader, posted the following screenshot of the episode to his Twitter account.

Lando spent most of his time in the Star Wars universe as a professional gambler and smuggler. He also once owned the Millenium Falcon, which he won in a game of sabbac. After he helps out Luke Skywalker, though, he gains the rank of general in the Rebel Alliance. He then takes the helm once more on the Millenium Falcon and leads the attack that eventually destroys Darth Vader's Death Star.

In 2011, IGN named Lando Calrissian as 11th in their top 100 Star Wars characters list.

Of course, most Star Wars fans are awaiting news about whether Williams will be returning as Lando in the new J.J. Abrams film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and any films following that, but so far, no one's said a word. Considering that most of the original Star Wars film cast is returning, including Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford, many fans of the franchise are itching to see Williams play the character one more time on celluloid.

Williams hasn't been seen as Lando on-screen since 1983's Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, although he's voiced the character for the TV series Robot Chicken and the film The Lego Movie. He also voiced Lando in video games Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, Star Wars Battlefront and Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron. However, none of these portrayals of the character are part of the series' canon.

Most recently, the 76-year-old Williams appeared on Dancing With the Stars, and even performed a Star Wars-inspired cha-cha. Unfortunately, Williams didn't make it far on the celebrity competition series.

Williams is also known for portraying Harvey Dent in Tim Burton's Batman and for his roles in critically-acclaimed films Brian's Song and Lady Sings the Blues.
