On Tuesday, May 11, Microsoft announced that there was a bug that recently appeared in Outlook. The known issue has brought frustrations to desktop and Microsoft 365 users.
According to the Redmond company, users have been experiencing the sudden disappearance of an email text when they typed them in the display. Other reports pointed out that they were receiving empty emails that only bore a "message space."

What's This Microsoft Outlook Bug All About?
According to a report by Digital Trends, Microsoft advised its users to restart their Outlook client so the problem could be immediately fixed. However, the tech giant reminded them that some instances require a second restart to make some changes for the bug fix.
In particular, the Microsoft Outlook version 2104 build 13929.20372 was found out to be the affected version. Users reported that after they installed the latest update, they could not view the emails nor make a new one anymore.
In the case of opening an email, the users said that they could not see any message in the body but only a single line or a small piece of space in the message.
To make things worse, there are reported cases that the previously written messages that will fade away when users press the "Enter" button
In connection to the bug, the Microsoft 365 Admin released an incident status report "EX255650: Issue affecting viewing email content in Outlook." This means that the company has finally recognized the origin of the unknown Outlook bug.
For the next three to four hours, the company expects that the fix will be implemented to the affected users. All they have to do is to restart their computers.
Updating the Microsoft Outlook client to its latest version will not only reward the users with the most recent features. The company said that they should enable the updates again if they were disabled before.
How to Fix Microsoft Outlook Bug in Simple Steps
According to Bleeping Computer, two methods should solve your problems in your Outlook client. Here are they:
Method 1: Reverting Your Office to the Latest April 2021 Version
Your April 23rd release of the client will help you get through this problem through these simple steps:
- Open CMD to access the command prompt
- Type cd "C:Program FilesCommon Filesmicrosoft sharedClickToRun" then click "Enter."
- After being directed to the ClickToRun folder, write officec2rclient.exe /update user updatetoversion=16.0.13901.20462 then tap the "Enter" button again.
- The rollback will take some time depending on your Internet speed and your computer so stay patient until it finishes.
Method 2: Launching Safe Mode in Microsoft Outlook
There is another alternative that you can do if you do not want to roll back your Outlook client version: by running it in Safe Mode. Be reminded that during this mode, all add-ins will stop.
To launch the Safe mode in Outlook, follow these easy procedures:
- Press and hold Ctrl. Click the Outlook client to begin the safe mode.
- Confirm it by pressing "Yes" so the add-ins will now be disabled.
- When the "Microsoft Outlook (Safe Mode)" appears, you are now in Safe Mode.
- You can close the program after you finish using Microsoft Outlook
- Every time you want to open the desktop client, you need to repeat these steps.
