The Jeep Cherokee 2020 has received a lot of praise for being a very adequate vehicle. Jeep, in general, is one of the top brands for well, jeeps! The modern Jeep models usually do a really good job when it comes to the outdoors but a certain year model of the Cherokee could have a huge issue.
2021 Jeep Cherokee Recall Models
Owners of a whopping 18,800 2021 Jeep Cherokee models are now expecting a recall notice coming from Jeep themselves over serious concerns that there could be a leaking transmission line that could potentially cause a fire.
This news was according to the announcement that was just recently made by the official National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that released an announcement addressing the major issue with the 2021 Jeep Cherokee. This recall is over a huge issue that could potentially be very dangerous.
Transmission Oil Cooler Issue
The recall specifically applies to a certain transmission oil cooler hose that was found to be "improperly cured." This could then potentially greatly increase the probability of the fluid leaking. The leaking fluid could then come in contact with the vehicle's really hot exhaust system then cause a fire.
Luckily, the needed fix for this particular issue is said to be as simple as just replacing a hose and easily refilling the whole transmission up. Like all particular recalls, the work will then be performed absolutely free of charge by the customer's own Jeep dealer once they start to get the notification.
Jeep Cherokee 2021 Recall Date
The notifications for the Jeep Cherokee 2021 recall will reportedly start around June 23. The 2021 Jeep Cherokee recall reportedly won't matter for those that own the 2020 Jeep Cherokee since only the 2021 models were reportedly affected by the serious but simple-to-fix leaking transmission hose issue.
For those that reportedly own the 2021 Jeep Cherokee and are reportedly concerned that the recall could potentially affect their vehicle and waitin for the official notification might be too far, there is a way to directly contact Jeep. According to the story by CNet, for those that either want to speed up the process or basically just have a couple of questions regarding the 2021 Jeep Cherokee recall, they can simply contact Chrysler customer service number at 1-800-853-1403 and the reference recall Y18.
Are Recalls Dangerous?
Although recalls aren't that common with most models, they do happen every once in a while. Sometimes, they actually happen when everything is too late and there have reportedly been major accidents regarding the model. Although this is not that common, it does happen a fraction of the time.
The good thing about the 2021 Jeep Cherokee recall is that it is happening just shortly after the release of the 2021 model. Basically, it is a good thing that the issue was caught before other major accidents could happen in the future.
