According to CNBC's report during the last week of April, Google has released a report of the company's performance during the 1st quarter and it has been a job well done for everyone under the internet company. The report showed how much Google has grown during the start of the year, especially with search trends peaking.
The search trends have shown a rise in "Travel Destinations" for this year, especially as people anticipate the end of the pandemic, amidst the wide distribution and growing number of fully vaccinated US citizens. With this, people searching for vacation ideas via Google has picked up and provided a boost in the company's stats.
Sundar Pichai revealed to investors that Google has grown to $55.31 billion in revenue from the expected $51.7 billion only, and it was a massive achievement for the company. Pichai also attributes this success to YouTube, which has been one of the prominent online streaming platforms, and has extensively grown its ads and TikTok-like feature called "Shorts."
Hybrid Work Setup, as Envisioned by Pichai
In the recent series of tweets and a blog post by the Alphabet CEO, "The future of work is flexibility," and that pertains to Google's pledge to look at a hybrid work setup even after the pandemic. The pandemic has taught people that remote work can thrive, and Google has observed this growth to be a massive improvement and opportunity for the company.
Initially, it was conceived by Google CFO Ruth Porat and was then picked up and confirmed by Pichai, now saying that it would give people the opportunity to experience a balanced work and personal life. This balance does not sacrifice one over the other, as people would be able to work at home and enjoy the comforts and presence of one's family.
