Google Maps is currently suffering from a funny bug that mixes up words in the app's offered locations. Some of the popular navigation application's users find it amusing while others are getting annoyed with it.

Google Maps Mixes Words of Location Names Because of a New Bug: Here's How to Fix It
The Google Maps app is seen on an Apple iPhone 4S on December 13, 2012 in Fairfax, California. Three months after Apple removed the popular Google Maps from its operating system to replace it with its own mapping software, a Google Maps app has been added to the iTunes store. The search engine giant confirmed that this is not a feature, but it is a system issue that could be caused by some features bundled with Google Maps. Because of this, some users are now finding their navigation experience quite challenging.

Various Google Maps users said that their application suddenly mixes or mispronounce words. They added that the new bug makes it hard for them to figure out the places they need to go to.

The issue was first spotted on Google's forums.

"Okay, so this problem started today April 28th, 2021. Normally, it describes the streets and turns adequately," said the Google map user.

"Today however all the words were slightly childish? For example: use = ooze, avenue = ovvenue, ontario = ontorio," he added.

How to Fix the New Google Maps Bug?

According to Auto Evolution's latest report, the complainer on Google's forums is also the one who figured out how to fix the issue. The anonymous user said that if you want to fix the new system bug, all you need to do is clear your Google Maps' cache.

After that, you can now sign in and sign out to make sure that your navigation app is now working properly. You can also restart or reboot your phone.

Aside from these, you can also change the default languages and then change them back to the original one. However, you still need to remember that these methods are not 100% effective.

On the other hand, the current Google Maps issue seems to be exclusive on Android smartphones. Because of this, some of the Google community members confirmed that they already contacted the search engine giant regarding the new bug.

Still, Google hasn't responded yet or confirmed that the issue is being addressed. As of the moment, it is advised to wait for the tech giant company's announcements.
