A look at the HP ZBook Fury 17 G7 might make you think that it's just another ordinary HP laptop, but you'd be wrong. This thing is likely more powerful than even your full-tower desktop.
Notebookcheck.net reports that the HP ZBook Fury 17 G7 is an absolute beast of a laptop: not for gaming, mind you, but for workstation applications. A quick look at its specs makes it easy to understand why.
Specs Fit For A King
For one, the HP ZBook Fury 17 G7 features a 10th gen Intel Core i9-10995H mobile processor, which is an absolute monster of a laptop CPU. It sports 8 fast cores with hyperthreading (so you get 16 threads), at a base clock of 2.4 GHz and an insane boost clock of 5.3 GHz, according to Intel's Ark. It also has 16 MB of Intel's patented Smart Cache, all within a TDP of 45 W.
As for the GPU, we have the NVIDIA Quadro RTX 4000 Max-Q, which is a professional-grade graphics card with performance that's between an RTX 2060 and a Radeon RX 5700, according to TechPowerUp. Some may think, however, that the performance is a bit lacking, but this is a workstation card, and not something meant for gaming like the 2060 or the 5700. One thing that clearly points to the NVIDIA Quadro card not being for gaming are the 320 tensor cores, which greatly aid the GPU in machine learning applications.
Rounding up the specs, we have 32 GB of fast DDR4 and a super-fast 1 TB Western Digital PC SN730 NVMe SSD, which will surely help speed up the loading times of even the most demanding workstation applications. No slow mechanical hard drives here, which means you'll be launching your projects blazingly fast.
HP Laptop For The True Power User
After launching the Zbook line around 6 years ago, HP now has a lineup of laptops that can comfortably compete against Apple's Macbook Pro series at a relatively lower price. The HP ZBook Fury 17 G7 is definitely more than capable with that Intel Core i9 and the NVIDIA Quadro RTX GPU.
What's amazing about the machine, however, is just how much performance HP was able to squeeze into a case that's 29 percent smaller. Compared to previous generation, the Fury 17 G7 is relatively lighter at less than 6.6 lbs., which is still significantly less than its competitors. 6.6 lbs. is still heavy, though workstation laptops do tend to be on the hefty side because of all the powerful hardware they have to cool inside a compact case.
Beastly Specs, Beastly Price Tag
Do you think you need all that power on the go? If so, then get ready to fork over a considerable amount of money. The HP ZBook Fury 17 G7 retails for around USD $5150, though there are cheaper alternatives of the same model (with more meager specs, obviously) on HP's official store. But if you absolutely have to get the one with the Intel Core i9 and the NVIDIA Quadro RTX 4000 Max-Q, then you need to have a pretty fat wallet.
