CD Projekt Red president as well as joint CEO Adam Kicinski recently stated that the developer is actually in for the long haul when it comes to finally fixing Cyberpunk 2077. The game launched with massive bugs and was almost unplayable for some players due to the massive glitches and other failures. Why is CD Projekt Red not giving up on Cyberpunk?
CD Projekt Red Cyberpunk 2077
Adam Kicinski recently spoke with Reuters saying he does not see shelving Cyberpunk 2077 as part of their options. He noted that they are still convinced that they will be able to bring the game into a state wherein they can actually be proud of themselves and even "successfully sell" the game for the upcoming years.
Delays after delays when it came to the game's development, Cyberpunk 2077 had finally launched on December 10 and was instantly met with negative criticism by many. The game was reportedly buggy, broken, and just didn't run the way that CD Projekt Red had promised.
CD Projekt Red Console Problems
To make things worse, the game looked terrible on the latest-generation consoles like the Xbox Series X or the PS5 which had generally failed to even hit the expectations that CD Projekt Red had put up due to their massive advertisement of the game before its release. Although there have recently been new patches coming left and right for Cyberpunk 2077, it is still far away from being what players expect it to be.
According to the story by Kotaku, CD Projekt Red took a massive hit directly to their reputation that was built mostly with the success of The Witcher. Kicinski also notes that CD Projekt Red has been able to get in touch with Sony, whcih had previously pulled the game, Cyberpunk 2077, directly from its digital PlayStation storefronts just a week after it had launched.
CD Projekt Red Multiplayer
Just last month, CD Projekt Red announced the studio's plans to stop and rethink the Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer experience that it previously touted as a sort of standalone project quite like Grand Theft Auto Online even before its launch. The company also mentioned that they will be adopting a brand new production strategy and this means that it will use a diminishing focus when it comes to promoting their games even before they are ready for people to play them.
CD Projekt Red is now working on its next-gen version of Cyberpunk 2077 for the new consoles, the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X/S expected to launch some time later in the year during maybe the second half. The additional horsepower is also expected to become an improvement over what gamers experienced in older PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One. The problem, however, isn't really in the game's adaptation to the newer consoles but rather the game itself is still pretty bugged.
