Facebook's oversight board announced that it is now allowing users to appeal to remove content from the popular social media platform. This is different from the previous policy, where users can only appeal if they want to restore a deleted content, which can be done on FB and Instagram.
According to CNET's latest report, Facebook's oversight board confirmed its decision on Tuesday, Apr. 13. The social media giant added that they are now rolling out the new feature, expecting it to be available for all users these coming weeks.
However, the tech giant firm didn't confirm the exact release date of the new feature's completion.
On the other hand, Facebook also confirmed that its oversight board moderators will not review all appeals. They will only select serious cases that need to take down content immediately.
How Facebook's new option works
Facebook explained, via its official Newsroom post, that its appeal feature is already used way back in October 2020. The giant social media company said that it allows people to disagree with the app's decision regarding a deleted post on FB or Instagram.

Facebook added that thanks to this feature, the oversight board can re-review the removed post. If they find the removal as an inappropriate action, they can bring it back into the platform.
"Today's announcement represents an expansion of the board's initial scope," said Facebook.
"As originally contemplated by the Oversight Board's bylaws, the board can now review Facebook's decision to leave content on the platform - content eligible for appeal to the board still includes posts/statuses, photos, videos, comments, and shares," added the tech giant firm.
How to appeal to remove a content that was already reported
The social media giant explained that the first thing you need to do is report content that you don't like or find inappropriate on the platform. After that, you can check if Facebook already deleted the post.
If it is still showing up on your feed, you and those who reported the content will receive an Oversight Board Reference ID in your Support Inbox. Once you received it, all you need to do is appeal so that Facebook's moderators can review it properly.
