PlayStation Studios has posted a new job listing for a Head of Mobile position as it is now looking to expand its reach into the mobile side of the gaming business.
The PlayStation brand and mobile gaming have been connected in the past. Back in May 2016, PlayStation Mobile Inc. published "Uncharted Fortune Hunter" on iOS and Android.
PlayStation Studios headed to mobile
According to IGN, similar to Square Enix's mobile endeavors with "Lara Croft Go" and "Hitman Go," the "Uncharted Fortune Hunter" placed a blocky Nathan Drake in a grid-based puzzle adventure replete with deadly traps and other obstacles for players to overcome.
The mobile title launched in the days leading up to the release of "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End," offering the fans of the game a new way of experiencing the challenges usually linked with the franchise's puzzle mechanics.

PlayStation Mobile Inc. has brought other projects to the market in the past few years too, namely "Run Sackboy! Run!" and PlayStation-centric apps like "Remote Play" and "PlayStation PlayLink." Sony believes that it may be able to extract more value from this particular vertical of its gaming brand.
As spotted by Niko Partners Senior Analyst Daniel Ahmad, SIE recently posted a job listing on Greenhouse for a Head of Mobile position.
The posting does not say much when it comes to details of the job, but it does ask if applicants have a desire to lead the development and strategy of mobile gaming and help shape the future of gaming for a world-class studio.
Whomever Sony hires for this position will also lead the expansion of game development across mobile, PC, console and Live Service platforms.
According to the application, the Head of Mobile can expect to lead a team of mobile leaders who will prove integral to a new business unit within PlayStation Studios.
The job listing also suggests that Sony is willing to invest valuable resources in order to expand its presence in the mobile gaming world.
When considering the success of games such as "Call of Duty: Mobile" and "PUBG Mobile," it easy to see why the hardware manufacture would take an interest in such a viable area of the business, as per Game Rant.
Despite the wide range of possibilities, this news may not sit well with some gaming fans. Reports of the brand's higher-ups allegedly over-emphasizing big blockbuster releases has a lot of PlayStation fans scratching their heads, wondering whether or not the overconfident PlayStation of the PS3 era is rearing its head once again.
PlayStation's most successful games
Although the console has its fair share of critics over its contents, it is also filled with amazing games that sold millions and is still very popular today, according to The Gamer.
"Minecraft" is PlayStation's most successful video game to date, raking in $100 million since its release. "Grand Theft Auto V" is a close second, selling $39.71 million copies on PlayStation alone with $20.32 million copies on PS3 and $19.39 million copies on PS4.
The game was also sold around $130 million copies across all platforms available to it. Rockstar Games clearly perfected their formula form "Grand Theft Auto: San Andrea" as the video game managed to secure being in the top 5 of PlayStation's best games.
