Google and Alphabet have been served with a petition signed by more than one thousand employees and workers to "stop protecting harassers" in the workplace, despite being flagged and reported by their colleagues. Allegedly, despite the complaints sent by the affected and threatened workers, the Google parent company did not do anything and stayed silent on the matter.
Google, Alphabet Work Harassment
According to a petition which called out Google and Alphabet, the workers want a workplace that is free from abusers and harassers who have made their experience when working dangerous and uneasy. These anonymous employees claim that there were abuses done to them and when reporting to HR, it was said that the management cannot do anything.
One particular case was about Emi Nietfield, who told New York Times that the harasser sat next to them in the office. Despite having reported it, there were no responses to keeping that person away from the victim. The gravity of this may lead to psychological trauma, which may contribute to a decline in a person's health.
Google and Alphabet did not respond to this petition and complaints, and it is can be noted that the company has been faced with several issues that they have ignored in the past, all relating to an unsafe workplace. It is also said that several incidents with Alphabet have been kept in silence, where the company has protected these harassers and not the victims.
Google, Alphabet Walkout by Employees to Make Voices Heard
According to a blog post uploaded in Medium, Google and Alphabet employees are staging a boycott and walkout from their work and the company to get their voices heard and spark a change in management. The company was allegedly "unethical" in their Ethics and Compliance standards, which they were said to uphold in the workplace.
The complaints from workers reveal that Google and Alphabet have been absentminded regarding their statuses and allowing them to work in an environment where it is healthy, inviting, and safe for the daily process.
Sexual Harassment Cases Which Google, Alphabet Protected
Allegedly, instead of pursuing cases or punishing these harassers, the HR from Google and Alphabet have been sending out threats, as far as removing immigration visas, to anyone who would share this outside the company. In the past, documented cases of sexual harassers have been compensated by Google for millions of dollars to leave the company.
The cases with the likes of Andy Rubin, creator of the Android mobile operating system, and Amit Singhal, a former executive in the search department, were given money in exchange for their departure from the company. These cases are proof of how Google and Alphabet handle these issues regarding corporate harassment.
