For those that might have had a bad experience with an unknown phone call, there might be a solution to find out who is stalking you as the Google Phone app could potentially provide you with details regarding who is trying to contact you.

Google Phone app call recording

The thing about random numbers is that it could be very important or it could be dangerous.

There is basically no way to tell if a call coming from an unknown number is going to be a good call or a bad one. For those that normally get random number calls for work, the option of putting down an unknown phone number's call might not be an option.

Call recording, however, is a pretty cool feature that can become really useful in certain sticky situations.

While there are already third-party dialers who already offer this feature, things might have just become much easier. According to the story by Android Police, Google Phone app actually picked the feature up last year.

Automatically record calls

Now, the feature is getting better and even allows users an opportunity to record all of the calls that come from certain unknown numbers. For threats from random numbers or other malicious calls, these could be really useful for evidence.

Most importantly, it will also help users track stalkers that creepily call your phones almost every day.

The feature was initially spotted in a certain string of code some time earlier this year and is now rolling out for a number of Phone app users, as per XDA-developers. Once the settings have been enabled, users will then be able to automatically record every single call that gets.

Call recording laws

Unfortunately, this still isn't really an all-encompassing solution and will reportedly work only for those that are in the call where call recording is legal. The feature will be available for those that are within regions that do not forbid call recording by law.

The individual making the call, on the other end, will also have to meet the same requirements for calls to be automatically recorded.

The downside of this feature is that if the caller is coming from another region wherein call recording is illegal, the feature won't be able to record their calls. The legalities can be quite complicated but searching the regulations online will show whether or not the feature can be enabled.

There is a whole list on Hubspot that includes which countries have strict call restrictions and which countries legally allow them.

It is still important, however, to make sure to check the specific region itself. Google "(name of region) call recording laws" in order to find exactly what the government says about call recording in your region. If it is completely legal, users will be able to easily use the feature coming from unknown numbers for their own protection.
